If political support were a relationship, Sarah Palin would be a wife beater.

Conservatives rallied around her during last year's presidential election, turning her into a demigod. Despite all the love and attention, Palin continues to let them down.

The Alaska Family Council held an event this evening to bolster support for their latest ballot initiative, which supports a law demanding parents be told if their dirty, sexually active child goes to get an abortion. And, as far as they were concerned, Palin had agreed to headline their event. They were twice told she would attend and were absolutely vibrating with anticipation:

• We look forward to Governor Palin honoring her commitment to attend, and we appreciate her public support of our effort to pass this important voter initiative to protect the rights of parents and the health of teenage girls.

We still need to find the reason that Palin so abruptly resigned, late on a Friday, before a holiday weekend, without preparing a well-conceived statement. It was far too quick a decision to have been done for benign personal reasons.

Alaskans for Parental Rights eventually removed the post where they were holding out faith that she would show.

The iron clad rule for Palin to attend a function is that it must have her lawyers approval, Thomas Van Flein (that should tell us something). Meg Stapleton is to tell the Palinistas or "beloved sycophants" when it is positive that she will be there. Two days before the "beloved sycophants" were confident Sarah Palin would sign a petition at the Change Point Megachurch in Anchorage. WTF happened?

Guess what! According to the Anchorage Daily News, Meg said they had never even heard of this speech.

"Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton said Wednesday, in response to inquiries from the Daily News about tonight's event, that "this is the first we have ever heard of a speech." She said Palin is out of state and won't be there."

Stapleton declined to provide details on where Palin is and what she is doing.

"All we can do is take people at their word that we've worked with in the past," Minnery said. "We've been working for several weeks on the event, promoting it very heavily. It would be a grave disappointment if she doesn't show up but the show will still go on."

Those much wiser than I on all things "quitty pants" called this one. I must have been living in the fantasy that the surgery had healed enough and with the right photography aids she was ready for her close up.

Meg's statement sends up the flares that things are not going well at all. Meg can only say Palin is out of state, there was no spin about why, where or how grizzly mama she is. Thank you Meg for confirming how deep and drastic the incompetency runs. What a disaster the quitter has on her hands. Do you like having the whole SarahPac charade labeled the LaughingStockPac? Who will take you serious now?

The situations in places like Dillingham and the victim's of the Robert Hales of Anchorage still need attention.

The only time Sarah Palin does any good is when she unwittingly spotlights subjects no one wants to notice.
