Long wait continues for Palin e-mails
RECORDS: State says it's overwhelmed, but critics cry foul.

Public records requests made more than a year ago for Sarah Palin's e-mails still haven't been filled by the state, and the Alaska Democratic Party chairwoman alleges it's an attempt to bury the past.

"I think they're hiding something, I think this is a travesty of justice,"
state Democratic Party Chairwoman Patti Higgins said Wednesday.
"The law says they have 10 days to do it."

Public records in Alaska are generally supposed to be provided within 10 days, although the state can extend the deadline for more complicated requests.

The state can't work out a way to release them in increments?
If they are in cahoots with her, they would delay and obstruct. She makes everybody look bad and the details will be the kiss of death for some. The people can't find a way to file a class action suit against the state and rogue quitter (who earned no benefits) gov ? It is a crime what all they are doing.

• All e-mails from Palin containing the following words: babysitter, childcare, McCain, Obama, Democrat, Huckabee, Wal-Mart, Eskimo, Natives, Kuwait, passport, Ruedrich or Kopp.

• All e-mails between Palin and her husband, Todd, with any of the following words: vote, veto, budget, oil, Monegan or Wooten.

• All e-mails between Palin and her sister, Molly McCann, with the words Wooten or Monegan (referring to figures connected with the so-called "Troopergate" affair.)

Another of the pending requests is by Anchorage activist Andree McLeod, who made a request on Oct. 1, 2008, for all of Sarah and Todd Palin's e-mails concerning official business for the previous two years. McLeod reacted to the latest extension by writing state officials Wednesday that

"it now seems Governor Parnell needs to keep Alaskans in the dark."

Jones said "we continue to work hard" to complete review of the records requests"

I think it’s time to start liking folk like him, a boy who shot so spectacularly to fame when he got Sarah Palin’s unwedded 17-year-old daughter Bristol knocked up three days after Palin was announced as McCain’s running mate.

Really, the kid deserves to be adored for simply being the protagonist in such a glorious moment in schadenfreude.
But my fondness goes beyond this.
I’ve just been reading his car-crashy expose of what it was like living with Sarah Palin while he dated Bristol in this month’s Vanity Fair.
I have to say, his first-person rundown is gallantly balanced and measured.
He comes across as a normal hockey-playin’, moose-shootin’ boy with the kind of bogan-a-licious name everyone in Wasilla seems to be christened with (The rest of the cast in this story illustrate the point: Tripp, Trig, Bristol…).
He’s gracious. And naive, even. Not out to sledge and moan. And he doesn’t seem to have a judgmental bone in his body.
Just a kid who couldn’t quite believe that the goose that is Sarah Palin had been planted on a rarified conveyor-belt, one assembly line stop-off from becoming America’s Vice President. Just like the rest of us.
Then again, the facts are salacious enough as they are. Life at Chez Palin during the running mate brouhaha was a carnival of errors and subterfuge.

It is about time the Johnstons get more kudos going their way. Just surviving the past year is enough hardship and wrath. You have to hand it to the 19 year old, he didn't shrink and he got out in front of it all. The McCain/Palin machine is massive and won't let up on them, but they haven't stopped Levi.

John McCain and Lindsey Graham are the most prominent GOP critics of the far right. hmmm...

Give losers like McCain Hell!!!! McCain is trying to backpedal without first purging his participation in bringing a far right nut case into his candidacy. He went for the lowest common denominator and he failed.
Continuing to support the embracing and exultation of one of the craziest on far right while at the same time he is a prominent GOP critic of same makes him crazier than ever.
The best antidote is the truth.

Not that he is man enough, but he must give it up and come clean in order to make sense. McCain has been a bad boy since the beginning, he learned the art of cover up early in life. By the time he married into a local mafia family he was good to go with the fine art of political manipulation. Not everyone could have skated through the Keating Five thievery like the old rascal did. And who better to abuse the families of fellow POW soldiers? He is not worthy of his government positions/benefits and he needs to learn he is not fooling as many people now. Are the elections in Arizona rigged or are the voters nuts?

The GOP is starting their 2012 campaign positioning.

All of the attention that Schmidt's comments have attracted is yet more evidence of the fact that Palin is a -- if not the -- prime mover in the Republican party. If she does ultimately run for president (and there are strong arguments to be made on each side), it's almost certain the race would boil down to Palin and a single candidate -- former Gov. Mitt Romney (Mass.), Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty* etc -- who would become the rallying point for the anti-Palin forces.
Until then, the forces who support her and those that oppose her will continue to reinforce their positions -- a process that could turn the 2012 presidential nominating fight into one of the most memorable in history.

I had a very interesting tête-à-tête last week that I thought I'd share. As you may have guessed, I'm on the email distro lists for all the major Sunday shows and cable news networks, and I get email notifications for who the scheduled guests will be as well as transcripts, p.r. pieces and the like. Last week, when ABC sent me an email that John McCain was going to be their guest again, I sent back a snarky reply asking if they ever had John Kerry on after he lost the election to George Bush as often as they've had McCain, and why, when there are so many actual issues about which the public needs to be informed, they gave so much air time to GOP obstructionism.

Honestly, I wasn't really happy with the dismissive little pat on the head from the Villager who thought that little blogger me couldn't understand why McCain was a reasonable booking. So I thought I'd give him a suggestion as to real balance:

Here is a segment I would LOVE to see you do with Sen. McCain: why don't you invite my colleague, David Neiwert, author of The The Eliminationists, on to discuss how the violent rhetoric that used to be relegated to the fringes of the Republican Party which has been mainstreamed since Obama's election and let Sen McCain respond to that? After all, he is the one who brought Sarah Palin to the national stage (and as I recall, actually said on your program that Palin was his "soul mate" after having only had one phone conversation and a short meeting with her before asking her on the ticket) and there is no other politician who has tapped so proficiently into that zeitgeist. I think it would be beneficial for Americans to hear someone of Sen. McCain's gravitas and stature disavow the kind of violent and racist rhetoric we've all seen. I'm more than happy to provide you with contact information for Mr. Neiwert if you are so inclined.

But if you're not interested in putting Sen. McCain on the spot, perhaps next time you do a show on the problems we're facing in Afghanistan, the "balance" you seek would be better achieved by putting on a politician who favors withdrawal, like Rep. Alan Grayson, instead of two hawks who will both say that the most important thing is "winning" in Afghanistan without actually explaining what "winning" means or how we can achieve it militarily. Where's the balance in that for your viewers?

She went back to Alaska, surrounded by her longtime political team, including chief spokeswoman and top adviser Meg Stapleton and Kristan Cole, who helped Palin launch a legal defense fund to cover costs related to several ethics investigations in Alaska. In January, Palin launched a new political action committee, SarahPAC—a move widely interpreted as an effort to help forward her political ambitions. Right after the August 7 to 8 attack on South Ossetia the President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili was shocked he didn't get any back up from the US. He soon changed his tune, but it was clear he thought he had a reason to believe if he attacked the de facto Russian territory of South Ossetia and the Russian soldiers that he would not be alone. Who was feeding him that bull and why didn't they keep their word?

This was major because it has to do with missile shields, NATO, Israel and possible nuclear bombs going off.

We know John McCain gave us the delusional blithering Sarah Palin and he must be held accountable for his desperate attempt to win an election. What else would he do to win? Cindy McCain would not have needed to go to The Republic of Georgia with aid and soothing for Saakashvili if he hadn't been led to believe he should attack at that time, coincidentally, US elections were is process. McCain had a falling out with his adviser Randy Scheunemann, what all was that about? Whatever it was, it doesn't bother Sarah Palin because she is in bed with Scheunemann now.

The current report settles who started the So. Ossetia attack.

"The report notes that the United States, Ukraine and Israel supplied large scale economic and military aid to Georgia that allowed the country to double its military in the space of a few years."

BRUSSELS--A nine-month European Union investigation into the 2008 war in the Caucasus has concluded that Georgia triggered the conflict, but that Russia prepared the ground for war to break out and broke international law by invading Georgia as a whole.

Conclusions to the roughly 1,000 page report, released on Wednesday by Swiss diplomat Heidi Tagliavini, also found that Russia-backed South Ossetian militias committed atrocities and "ethnic cleansing" of Georgian villages during and since the war. It faulted Russian forces in control of the territory that either "would not or could not" control the South Ossetians.

The report found no evidence to back Russian claims that Georgia committed genocide on the night of Aug.7-8.

The conflict, which briefly brought the United States and Russia into Cold War-style confrontation, left some 850 people dead, 35,000 permanently displaced and Europe's security infrastructure severely weakened. Russian forces remain in occupation of the two territories, while Moscow has recognized them as independent states.

She was asked who she would like to attend the $63,500 dinner, her answer was Track Palin. She likes that he was in Iraq. Her grand children will be there and you can imagine the delight it would be for her family to meet him.

The woman must have money to burn. She wanted to help Ride2Recovery. Instead of directly sending them a check she participated in what looks like a rigged publicity stunt. The more people involved, the more money taken out of what goes to the wounded warriors and veterans.

Is it any wonder people would question if she is some kind of a corporate puppet that works the system?

She is a piece of work. No one asked her why she couldn't just say she met Todd and Sarah at the Fairbanks picnic like the other Palintologists. It isn't a direct lie, more like one of omission. Why hide her meetings unless she has something to hide? Adrienne Ross has been shouting it from the roof tops that she was in Alaska for the quitting series. Not Ms. Maples. She is now hiding and ashamed she was at a celebration with all the others.

Shame, shame, shame on you, Ms. Maples!

After blowing smoke in numerous interviews Ms. Maples finally claimed she met Todd and Sarah at the Anchorage airport, it is clear they had another rendezvous.

Maples has met Palin twice before, once at a fundraiser in North Carolina during last year's presidential campaign. The other meeting was in Alaska last summer, shortly before Palin left office.

"I've been to Alaska about three times, and the last time I came I bought my grandchildren up, and I tried to make sure my they got to meet her, and they did," she said of the brief meeting at an airport.

"She was a very gracious person, and we enjoyed it," Maples said.

Seven people placed 61 bids over the 10-day run of the auction, which had a minimum bid of $25,000. Maples will have to foot the bill to meet up with Palin for dinner, likely in Alaska. She wouldn't have any problems making another trip north. "I love Alaska," she said.

Other auction items for the charity included lunch with former Bush aide Karl Rove (which went for $16,000), a "CSI: New York" set experience and party with star Gary Sinise ($4,150), and a Rob ( Rob Lowe has been playing with young beauties since the 1980s) Lowe-autographed baseball jersey ($620).

Maples is allowed to bring four people to dinner. She says the plan right now is to bring her two grandchildren, 13 and 18 years old, their mother and the 18-year-old's girlfriend.

The auction had regulations for the winner, including passing a background check.

"Will not be a problem," Maples said.

More Maples, 53, of Huntsville: Local will dine with Palin

The dinner, which is still to be arranged, will be the third time Maples has met Palin. The first time was at a fundraiser in North Carolina during the presidential campaign. The second time was this July in Alaska.

Maples took her grandson, York Powell, on a trip as a high school graduation present, along with his mom, Michelle Powell, younger brother, Camden, and friends Maggie Thompson and Jordan Price.

The group fished, took a cruise around Prince William Sound and went dog-sled mushing. The highlight of the trip, however, was meeting Palin and her husband, Todd.

Maples, who said "persistent is something they say about me," made several phone calls trying to see Palin. Finally, Todd Palin himself called her to coordinate the meeting, which came just after Palin announced she was resigning as governor.

The couple spent about 15 minutes with Maples' group at the Anchorage airport, and Palin posed for pictures with everyone. ( ???????? )

The Valley, Alaska's fastest-growing region, is a spectacular area of lakes and birch and spruce forests, surrounded by granite-colored snowcapped mountains that poke through the clouds.

WASILLA -- The 34-year-old son of a Mat-Su assemblyman was killed Saturday after breaking into a house to steal drugs.

Jeremy Ewing was shot after struggling with someone in the home, said his family and the Alaska State Troopers.

His father, Assemblyman and former Wasilla City Councilman Mark Ewing, said he believes his son acted as part of a ring set up by people he met while jailed at Palmer Correctional Center earlier this year.(ring set up ? ? ?)

Troopers confirmed that Jeremy Ewing broke into the Palmer area home to steal marijuana and said they are investigating the case. Two arrests have been made, but Sergeant Michelyn Grigg on Thursday refused to disclose the names of the people arrested.

"To protect the integrity of the case and to protect the witnesses we have, we're not going to release the names," she said.

Mark Ewing said his son had a history of run-ins with the law, although a public database of court cases indicates most charges against him were dismissed. Jeremy frequently lived on the street despite offers of a warm bed from family and friends.

Levi Johnston once lived in the same house with Piper. They were all one family before the split ups started. Now there are dark secrets and the family is no more, the divides are vast. This has got to be the final nail for Palin as far as influencing a federal election. She will always have some comedic use, but the federal election Pac charade is done. The FEC will become another mockery if they allow this despicable Pac to continue. Palin pulls down everything she touches. There are other Palin scams to take serious. It is time for the media to expose Babygate. Why delay it any longer?

Why won't the FEC lay this SarahPac thing to rest? Can't they see her grifter quitter record?

How can they think she is going to ever influence a federal election?

We are aware that attempts have been tried to make Sarah Palin ready for prime time. She has had support from the most famous and thoughtful rebranding agents. It has been a year since she didn't hesitate, it has been a year of going downhill. Can't they see she is epic fail and can never be their robot? She is right about not being wired that way. She must be freed to tweet as only she can.

Meg Stapleton is to tell the Palinistas or "beloved sycophants" when it is positive that she will be there. Two days before the "beloved sycophants" were confident Sarah Palin would sign a petition at the Change Point Megachurch in Anchorage. WTF happened?

Guess what! According to the Anchorage Daily News, Meg said they had never even heard of this speech.

"Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton said Wednesday, in response to inquiries from the Daily News about tonight's event, that "this is the first we have ever heard of a speech." She said Palin is out of state and won't be there."

Stapleton declined to provide details on where Palin is and what she is doing.

"All we can do is take people at their word that we've worked with in the past," Minnery said. "We've been working for several weeks on the event, promoting it very heavily. It would be a grave disappointment if she doesn't show up but the show will still go on."

Those much wiser than I on all things "quitty pants" called this one. I must have been living in the fantasy that the surgery had healed enough and with the right photography aids she was ready for her close up.

Meg's statement sends up the flares that things are not going well at all. Meg can only say Palin is out of state, there was no spin about why, where or how grizzly mama she is. Thank you Meg for confirming how deep and drastic the incompetency runs. What a disaster the quitter has on her hands. Do you like having the whole SarahPac charade labeled the LaughingStockPac? The initiative that Palin supports is shallow and does not consider what happens in the family dynamics when incest is involve. Palinistas are among the people that refuse to engage in discussions on health care. She has proved she is not able to speak outside of a narrow venue.

It is all more perplexing because of the dismal record of abuse in Alaska.

Fairbanks Health Center surveyed 419 clients over a 3-week period and found that 24% reported physical abuse in the past 6 months while 39% reported some form of sexual abuse (1995).
In 3 out of 4 reported cases, the victim knew the offender, the most commonly reported type of sexual abuse is a father who commits incest with his daughter--usually the eldest daughter.
As many as 4 out of 5 offenders were sexually assaulted as children.
One-third of incest victims' mothers were sexually abused as children.
Alaska's rape rate is 2.2 times the national average overall.

More Alaskan-based research is needed on risk factors and the complex relationship between domestic violence and child abuse, elder abuse, and domestic violence during pregnancy, as well as its overall prevalence and incidence.

A month after she became governor, Sarah Palin's staff ushered Alaska's public safety commissioner into her private office. But Palin wasn't there (where is she now?). Her husband, Todd, had called the meeting. He was frustrated that his former brother-in-law remained on the job as a state trooper, and he prevailed upon the commissioner to get rid of him. "I thought that was odd and made me a little uncomfortable," said Walter Monegan, the commissioner, who later was fired by Gov. Palin. "We 're having it in the governor's office, and he's not the governor. I think he was trying to use state trappings to handle a personal issue ." The January 2007 meeting was part of a long pattern of pressure that she and her husband applied on state officials to try to get the trooper fired, according to an Alaska legislative report released Friday. The report said those contacts amounted to an abuse of power and a violation of the state's ethics laws, which prohibit using public office for personal benefit . But while the condemnation of now-vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was the conclusion, the nearly 300-page report by investigator Stephen Branchflower was more about her husband. Todd Palin, the self- described "first dude" of Alaska, had extraordinary access to his wife's office, her staff and her power. Todd Palin spent about 50 percent of his time in the governor's office, making phone calls , participating in meetings or just hanging out, said Gary Wheeler, a member of Gov. Palin's security detail. "He had a significant influence, in that he was always interacting with the, the employees there," Wheeler told state investigators. "Any time I needed to get information to the governor, I would always go through Todd." The governor and her staff kept Todd Palin in the loop on a wide range of issues, copying him on e-mails about union matters, public relations and a bill requiring parental consent for abortions . His efforts to get Mike Wooten, Sarah Palin's sister's ex-husband, fired were extensive. Todd Palin held dozens of meetings and phone calls with state officials, alleging that Wooten threatened the Palin family , was too unstable to be a trooper, and was cheating the worker's compensation system. Todd Palin would not answer a question about the report during a campaign stop Saturday. GOP presidential candidate John McCain's spokesman in New Hampshire, Jeff Grappone, said Palin would not take questions from the media during his visit. But in an affidavit he provided to investigators, he made no apologies. "I have heard criticism that I am too involved in my wife's administration ," he wrote. "My wife and I are very close. We are each other's best friend. I have helped her in her career the best I can, and she has helped me." Taylor Griffin, a spokesman for John McCain's presidential campaign, compared Todd Palin's role to that of other political spouses. First lady Eleanor Roosevelt was a vocal player in labor civil rights issues, Hillary Rodham Clinton took on health care while first lady, and Nancy Reagan was a close adviser to her husband. "The role that Todd has played, I don't think is dissimilar from other spouses, and I think it's an entirely appropriate role," Griffin said. "And Todd will play an appropriate role as the spouse of the vice president." The legislative probe began as an investigation into whether Palin improperly fired Monegan for resisting efforts to fire Wooten. The report concluded that Monegan's firing was legal, because Palin had the right to choose her top administrators, but that the pressure Palin and her husband exerted to try to get Wooten fired was improper. Palin originally pledged cooperation with the legislative inquiry, which was approved by a bipartisan vote of a committee on which Republicans are the majority. After McCain tapped Palin as his running mate, however, accusations of political interference quickly pushed the personnel matter into the national spotlight. Democratic state Sen. Hollis French drew heavy criticism for saying the investigation could provide an "October surprise" for the McCain campaign. That allowed the McCain-Palin campaign to dismiss Friday's report as a political smear. The McCain campaign even issued its own rival report clearing Palin of all wrongdoing. "I think it did turn into a partisan circus," Palin said Saturday in a brief conference call with Alaska reporters. She said she was pleased that the investigation upheld her authority to fire Monegan. She said she disagrees with the report's finding that she abused her power. Though the committee's report reached some stinging conclusions, it was largely toothless. The Legislature has no authority to sanction Palin for ethical misconduct. On the heels of the blog report from The Immoral Minority that ex-Governor Sarah Palin and her husband Todd are divorcing—which earned the blogger, Gryphen, a pissy letter from Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein, declaring it a malicious lie—both Levi Johnston and his sister Mercede are telling the tabloids that the rumor’s true.

On Monday Levi told RadarOnline.com (owned by the same company, American Media, as the National Enquirer) that Sarah and Todd had problems “from day one,” and that he definitely thought their marital woes were a contributing factor to Sarah abdicating her governorship. And, as Talking Points Memo reported on Friday, she put up a demented, fact-free Facebook rant trashing the president’s health care plan: “The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.”

Yes, I was personally horrified that all links to Sarah Palin's vitriolic and targeted press releases to exact "fair play" or the threats of potential lawsuits against progressive Alaskan bloggers including Shannyn Moore and Linda Kellen-Biegel, seemed to have vanished entirely from the SOA (state of Alaska) website! Who wouldn't be? Keep in mind that those bloggers here in Alaska are merely expressing their first amendment rights in the form of "freedom of speech" by blogging about the alleged abuses of power and ethical complaints against Sarah Palin in her official capacity as Governor of the state of Alaska. With that in principle in mind I went to the sites I like to check every day to read whatever new crazy thing is designed to attack us bloggers. I went to the official State of Alaska website and got a shock that I feel should rock us all to our very core. -Laz

If there is anything the Palins are proud of and love, it is Alaska's fish picker status. For heavens sake! They almost killed their unborn son, Trig, so he could have an Alaskan birth certificate. (I think it is called a "pro-life abortion") At least, they claim they took a flight that risked Trig's life to get that Alaskan fish picker certificate of birth, has anyone seen Trig's birth certificate? It has certainly been at the heart of a controversy. I take all that to mean fish is important to the Palins.

Alaska ships product all over the world and what would be more important than food safety? No one wants to infect their clients with disease. With the wonderful culinary delights of the state you would think Mr. Dochtermann's request would be important news and of interest to all Alaskans and all who love and buy their product. In the following video @ :38 a man hands something to Palin, she laughs and thanks him.

What was it? It looks like gloves, or a food handlers tool. At times Piper is wearing gloves while handling the wieners. At any time did her role model mother ever put on the gloves? It looks like she came close. Who was the gentleman in the video and what was he doing? It looks like Sarah, Piper and Britta Hanson were hovering over the food for quite a while. There is a serious old dude that is there to protect the Palins. At times people were hugging Sarah with the food beneath them. What on earth could drop off from their clothes? People do drool and sneeze, was it necessary to display affection in what was to be a food line?
